My RV Resource likes to do things a little differently. We love sharing details about our VIP members!

We’re proud to introduce Jason & Lisa Carletti, the first couple to become Master Certified RV Inspectors in the
United States. Lisa is the first female Master Certified RV Inspector!

In response to their RV inspection clients’ requests, Lisa & Jason Co-founded MyRVResource.com, the Yellow Pages for RV Services!

Tell us a little about your situation while running your RV business.

We live in our fifth wheel full-time in Dover, FL, which makes us the closest RV inspectors to Lazy Days, RV One, General RV, and Camping World in the Tampa, FL area. We do RV inspections throughout Central Florida from Fort Myers to Ocala.

Do you live in an RV full-time?

Lisa and I own a 2016 Highland Ridge Open Range Light 319RLS. We enjoy the space inside the fifth wheel over the
Class A gas motorhome we owned before this.

What inspired you to start your own RV business?

We bought an RV so Lisa could do the traveling surgical technologist thing while I played the role of a stay-at-home husband taking care of things around the house and upkeep on the RV. After several contracts, I became bored started looking into RV inspection courses.

Little did we know that our new business venture would become a full-time career for both of us and allow Lisa to leave healthcare.

What RV services or RV products do you offer?

We perform RV Inspections and offer fluid analysis to test lubricants and coolants in the RV. However, we choose to use a local lab and instead of waiting days for fluid analysis results that need shipped off. Almost always, we have our results the very next day.

What is your background and how did you develop the skills to start your business?

Jason was a low voltage electrical technician for years. The experience with electrical components and troubleshooting is invaluable when inspecting RV’s. Lisa was a Certified Surgical Technologist for over 20 years. Her experience in surgery is great for her attention to detail during inspections. We have completed over 700 RV inspections since becoming certified in 2017. You would be hard pressed to find another RV Inspector anywhere in the country who has completed as many inspections as we have.

What has been your business’s proudest moment?

Helping FEMA provide housing after Hurricanes Irma and Florence has to be the top of the mountain. Jason was one of the first two RV inspectors chosen to go to the Florida Keys for the first FEMA project ever by RV Inspectors.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Working and living together has to be the biggest challenge but we make it work!

Describe your typical work day.

We spend at least five hours a day outdoors performing RV Inspections before heading inside to work on the inspection reports to send to clients.

Once the client views the report, we follow up with a phone call and go over the features of HomeGauge, the recommended reporting software we’ve modified to work well for RV inspections, and then answer any questions and address any concerns the client may have regarding the inspection.

Tell us something interesting/fun about your business.

Because most of our inspections are on brand-new units, we get to see all of the new bells and whistles plus the floorplans of the different models. It’s amazing how fast things are changing now!

If you could go back to the beginning knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?

We really hit the ground running and learned a lot along the way but honestly, that’s the only way we know how to do things.

What’s your best advice for someone who wants to start his/her own RV business?

    • Pay attention in class and ask plenty of questions.
    • Keep it simple, don’t overwhelm yourself by doing too many inspection levels.
    • Don’t over/undercharge for your services.
    • Always give the customer a little something extra.

Any other comments or advice you'd like to share?

Many RV inspectors have been doing this for a long time and are willing to answer questions. At My RV Inspection,
we’ve been mentoring newbie RV inspectors for a couple of years and love helping others.

Glad to chat with you, Jason!
