Recalled Fire Extinguishers Cover

Let’s talk about a Fire Extinguisher Recall on today’s Weekly One Reason to Get an RV Inspection.

Hello everybody! It’s Jason again with MyRVResource.com – It’s Like the Yellow Pages for RV Services!

What I’ve found during this RV inspection is pretty important – fire extinguisher recalls!

Kidde, for a few years had some fire extinguishers with a plastic handle like this one. Many where recalled in 2017. A lot of those should have already been sent in and been replaced but they haven’t got every one of them.

Here is a link to the recall so you can check your fire extinguisher.

This model is an FA110G. From August of 2012 until August of 2017, that fire extinguisher was recalled. See this stamp with the year 2013? That means that this fire extinguisher could fail if you have a fire. If this recalled fire extinguisher fails to go off and you need it to get out of the RV, what are you going to do? This is a Life Safety Issue, folks! You definitely want to get this replaced. So if you have an RV that was built during those years, you may want to look your fire extinguisher up and you should have it changed out.

Another important key here is that, it’s supposed to be mounted within 24 inches the door and needs to be the size of 10:BC. It is very important that these things are all correct. This is just one of the many things we look for when we’re doing an RV inspection.

So once again, that was my Weekly One Reason to Get an RV Inspection. This fire extinguisher has been recalled since 2017 and it is 2022. Make sure your RV inspector will be checking this during the inspection. Not all RV inspection companies do. Have a nice day!
