My RV Resource is proud to introduce Featured VIP Bryan & Trish Carbonnell at Tech-Reational Vehicle Services, Inc.

Tell us a little about your situation while running Tech-Reational Vehicle Services, Inc.

Although we are fulltime RVers, our home base is Orangeville, Ontario, Canada. Having a home base has allowed us to build relationships with the dealers and campgrounds in the area. During the winter, we could be found in the Central Florida area, Disney World more than likely. 😁

All that changed over the winter of 2021/22 when Bryan became an instructor with the National RV Training Academy in Athens, TX. Training new RV Technicians and Inspectors as well as bouncing back and forth between Ontario and Texas every 3-4 weeks has kept us extremely busy.

Do you live in an RV full-time?

We jumped into fulltime RV living the day we bought our first RV! We are now into our 10th year as full-timers in our very first RV, a 2013 5th wheel.

What inspired you to start Tech-Reational Vehicle Services, Inc?

Sadly, the 5th wheel we bought had problems, so many problems that we needed to make 3 trips back to the factory in Indiana to have it repaired.

Just before we were to have our 3rd and final factory appointment, we found out about the training courses to become a Certified RV Inspector.

So, in an effort to learn more about our rig and to make sure we could explain our issues to the factory and to make sure our issues were taken care of satisfactorily, we decided to take the courses.

While doing RV inspections we found that qualified RV technicians were in great demand, so building on our knowledge gained through inspecting repairs, Bryan became an RVIA/RVDA certified RV technician. Now we have the skills and knowledge to help other folks enjoy the RV lifestyle.

What RV services or RV products does Tech-Reational Vehicle Services, Inc., offer?

We offer independent 3rd party RV inspections, mobile RV repairs, new owner familiarizations and walkthroughs, educational seminars and now training new RV Technicians and Inspectors.

We are a Certified AquaHot Service Center, Authorized repair technicians for Oasis, Dometic, Norcold and Lippert, among others.

What is your background and how did you develop the skills to start Tech-Reational Vehicle Services, Inc.?

Trish has a background in electrical engineering technology and operating her own business. Bryan brings his own technical experience as well as an unmatched attention to detail.

We are constantly expanding our knowledge base with continuing education offered by manufacturers, dealers, and industry associations.

What has been Tech-Reational Vehicle Services, Inc’s proudest moment?

In 2018/19 we were honored to be given the opportunity to head up the warehouse inspection and repair team for the FEMA Relief Project for the survivors of Hurricane Florence in North Carolina. We were able to make a difference in a lot of people’s lives and met some amazing people that are still dear friends to this day.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Our biggest challenge has been running a business that operates in both Canada and the United States and ensuring that all legal, certification, and insurance needs are satisfied.

Describe your typical work day at Tech-Reational Vehicle Services, Inc.

Bryan uses this RV Air Conditioner Lift to replace RV AC units.

While the duties of each work day vary, we typically inspect RVs, perform repairs, educate our customers, order parts, and respond to calls and email daily.

Tell us something interesting/fun about your business.

Bryan is a Status North American Indian, which gives Tech-Reational Vehicle Services, Inc the unique ability to operate internationally in the United States and Canada.

If you could go back to the beginning knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?

We would have jumped into our business with both feet rather than devoting too much time to a safety net.

What’s your best advice for someone who wants to start his/her own RV business?

Just do it. If this is something you really want to do you have to take a leap of faith and accept the results. The only thing limiting you is your fear of the unknown.

Any other comments or advice you'd like to share?

Be kind to yourself. Difficult times of failure lead to sweeter times of success.

Glad to chat with you, Bryan!
