Let’s check out the RV water damage found during this RV inspection.

Hello everybody! It’s Jason again with MyRVResource.com – It’s Like the Yellow Pages for RV Services! Make sure you check it out if you’re not already there.

Today once again coming at you with your Weekly One Reason to Get an RV Inspection. We’re going to talk about RV water damage showing up as sidewall delamination.

RV sidewall delamination can happen for many reasons.  One is because of RV water damage. Many RVs have vacuum sealed sidewalls. That means that the interior wall the framing the insulation in the exterior of the wall are all glued together and vacuum sealed. This makes them stronger, but sometimes that vacuum seal becomes broken. A lot of times, this is due to water getting inside the walls. If you don’t know what to look for, there could already be serious water damage to an RV before you buy it. That’s where we come in his certified RV inspectors. We know what we’re looking for.

I’m going to reverse my camera so looking at the side of the wall. You can see right there that there’s kind of like a wave in that wall. Let’s see if we can push on that wall. The wall is soft enough for me to push on and I can feel kind it’s kind of squishy behind there. I can definitely tell that the fiberglass has separated from what’s inside.

Another way is just trying to knock on it and then when we knock on a solid area right here there is a little bit different sound. So water’s probably gotten in behind this tail light assembly and into the wall down here. We have the same issue below the other tail light.

We’re just going to come up to the front here and there’s your mirror mount. We have the same issue here, so more than likely water has gotten behind the mirror mount.

There’s really not good fixes for this without replacing the wall, and there’s some people who put some glue in there. Without taking the wall apart we don’t know if there is mold or other structural damage behind there.

If you’re looking at your RV before you call an RV inspector, that’s something to look for. Push on the walls and make sure they’re solid everywhere. Especially below windows, tail lights, mirror mounts, and other parts installed on the sidewalls. You may already know that there’s delamination before you have the RV inspection done and you don’t have to spend the money on that RV inspection.

Once again this is Jason with MyRVResource.com. Check it out if you’re not already there and have a nice day.
