Today’s RV inspection found an RV Awning that doesn’t fully extend. On those hot summer days, the RV awning will provide more shade when fully extended.

Hello everyone! I’m Jason with My RV Inspection and MyRVResource.com. It’s Like the Yellow Pages for RV Services! Make sure you check it out. I’m coming to you again with my Weekly One Reason to Get an RV Inspection.

RV Awning Doesn’t Fully Extend

This RV I am inspecting is a 2021 model. It is used and the seller brought it into the dealership to have a slide-out motor replaced and the stabilizer jack fixed. Since this RV has a couple of things wrong the buyer called me and said hey can you inspect this RV for us? We’re at the dealership where the repairs were made. The dealership also performed a yearly inspection on this RV and they found a dent in the AC shroud.  That is all they found.

We’re going to look at the awning real quick. Now, this awning typically extends farther than this. If you don’t know any better you wouldn’t know how I found out. When you look at the knuckle you can see the gap between the ends. This tells me that the awning is not fully extended. It only comes out about probably 4 feet from the RV. That is not much shade.

That’s an issue that should have been caught by the dealership during its yearly inspection. It probably could have made the dealership a few bucks for the repair. Luckily the buyer hired us and we caught it.

This is just one thing right? We know there are going to be multiple things. This is Jason with My RV Inspection, the only Master Certified Inspector couple in the country, and the only Master Certified inspectors in the State of Florida as of this recording.
