I showed up for an RV inspection today and the RV slideout was out, but the leveling jacks were up. Let’s see what the manufacturer suggests.

Hello everybody. This is Jason from My RV Inspection and MyRVResource.com. It’s Like Yellow Pages for RV service providers. You can find just about anything you want on that website or need in the United States.

So today, I’m here to give you another one of my weekly one reasons from beautiful Florida.

Today I want to talk about trust. Do you trust the person that’s selling you the RV to tell you the truth? Or to do the job right?

Today, I’m inspecting a used RV and I wanted to talk a little bit about how dealerships take care of these. I’m here inspecting this RV. I’ll just flip my screen around here and you can see the RV show up.

Slideouts are already out! Now the slideout shouldn’t be put out without the leveling jacks being down, and I’m going to prove that to you here in a second. But if we look, there are the jacks that are up, and then if we come up to the front, we will also see the leveling Jacks are up. This is a regular occurrence at RV dealers. And you know, it takes one to two minutes to level the RV before putting the slide out.

What else aren’t they doing correctly? This is an important step when you’re setting up your RV. We don’t want these slideouts to bind or anything like that. Well, I’m just going to do is prove to you that they do it all the time. Another RV with slide out. I’ll flip my screen around we see the slide out. Once again, leveling Jacks are down. Just going to walk over to the next one. We don’t even have to walk over to it. See? the slideout is out. We get down low, you can see the leveling jacks are up.

Didn’t you think these people were supposed to be the authorities on RVs? They work on them all the time. They sell them to you, all of that stuff. You would think they would do it the right way, but just to prove to you what I’m talking about here. Walk into the RV and go back to our touch screen on the leveling system. If you read that: The unit must be level with Jacks in the down position before operating slide-out rooms. One or two minutes doesn’t seem like a lot of time to do the right thing but what can you say? It’s not just one dealership I see this at. See it at nearly every dealership I go to. So, today’s weekly one reason is because…

Do you trust the person selling it to you to do the right things? All I can say is when you hire a certified, independent RV Inspector, they know this stuff and they look for this stuff. If you hire one of those companies out there that just sends auto mechanics out, they don’t know this stuff. They probably aren’t even going to run the slides in and out. Most of them don’t even get on the roof. So, make sure to use a certified or master-certified RV inspector to get your RV inspected. And that’s your Weekly One Reason To Get An RV Inspection. Don’t forget about my RV resource.com. Yellow Pages for RV service providers. And have a nice day.
